Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University

Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University (DSNLU) is a public law university located in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Established in 2008 through the DSNLU Act by the Government of Andhra Pradesh, it is named after Damodaram Sanjivayya, the first Dalit Chief Minister of an Indian state. The university was created to fulfill the long-felt need for a national-level law institution in Andhra Pradesh and to promote legal education and research. DSNLU is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Bar Council of India (BCI), and holds membership in the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The campus is situated in the Sabbavaram area near Visakhapatnam, spread across approximately 50 acres. As one of the younger National Law Universities in India, DSNLU has been working to establish its reputation in legal education, though it faces challenges in matching the prestige and placement records of older, more established NLUs such as NLSIU Bangalore or NALSAR Hyderabad. The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in law, with admission primarily through the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).
