Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Bhopal

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Bhopal (IISER Bhopal) is one of the seven IISERs established by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, under the National Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 2012. Founded in 2008, it was among the first batch of IISERs created to integrate undergraduate and graduate education with cutting-edge research in basic sciences. The institute operates from its 200-acre campus in Bhauri, near Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. IISER Bhopal offers a distinctive 5-year BS-MS dual degree program across multiple science disciplines, along with PhD programs and newer professional-oriented programs. The institute emphasizes research from the undergraduate level, with students required to complete year-long research projects in their final year. IISER Bhopal has developed particular strengths in areas like energy research, climate science, and interdisciplinary studies, supported by advanced research facilities and active collaborations with national laboratories and international institutions.
